Fall Protection (OSSA) | MI Safety
MI Safety’s one day Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Approved fall protection course meets the requirements of a training program according to Part 9 of the Alberta OHS Code.
In the course, we cover both the responsibilities of the employer and worker, as well all the relevant Canadian Federal, CSA and Alberta legislation.
Participants learn about fall hazards and fall protection systems, including the components of a fall arrest system. Potential fall consequences are described, as are body harnesses and fall restraint systems including lanyards, shock absorbers, and anchor points. Participants learn how to perform a pre-use equipment inspection. Other topics include elevated work platforms, temporary and permanent structures, rescue, and maintenance. The course is designed to teach the participant to eliminate or control the fall hazard and as a last resort use PPE.
Workers will be issued a certification card at the end of the course valid for 3 years.
