Class 1 & 3 Driver Training
Looking to upgrade your license to a Class 3 or a Class 1? One of our instructors will assess your driving experience and skills and customize a training package to suit your needs and ensure the program provides the training and information needed to prepare for the road test.
Training is one-on-one with the instructor. Components of the training include the following:
-un-coupling the trailer (Class 1 only)
-coupling the trailer (Class 1 only)
Additionally, in-truck instruction will cover all areas to be tested on the government road exam:
-control (equipment, steering, shifting, gears, clutching, brakes/accelerator, signals)
Once you have registered for training, you will have access to online practice questions to help you prepare for the knowledge exams.
The student must have completed the Air Brakes Course, Driver’s Medical (Class 1 only), and relevant Alberta Registry Knowledge Exam prior to driver training. Fees are set by the registry and are subject to change; approximate costs are $20 for the knowledge exam and $250 for the road test, including additional examiner travel fees. Class 1 road exam is 1.5 hours; Class 3 road exam is 1 hour – charge for truck rental is $125/hour for the road exam. The driver’s medical fee is set by the physician; average cost is $100.
Driver Training Cost: $125 per hour (number of hours dependent on driving needs); average training time is 20-25 hours for those with no prior experience.
